Mighty Morphin’…

Mighty Morphin’…

…bloggy bits.

I’ve now updated the site to a new theme (quite obviously if you are viewing this).  The flippy/rotate-y bit at the top is meant to be for photo posts only, so yes, there may be more to view than just the newest colorful rectangle at the top!

The reason for this is that while I do sometimes enjoy writing, the majority of what I do that is in any way creative is either music or photography.  I wanted a photoblog, but with the option of also adding my own wordiness in there from time to time.  I think this will be a fairly good compromise for the time being.

As far as things outside of the blogosphere go, this week has been full of hurdles and lacking in awesome.  Given that it is Thursday, I am just happy that it is almost over.  Between a work trip that decidedly HAD to begin at 5 am, a full blown network outage while our entire staff was out of the office for a day, and minor disagreements with people whom I don’t like disagreeing with, this week has left me with a sort of ‘ugh’ feeing.

BUT, with all that being said, today is a new day and so far it has kicked off with an air of positivity.  The sun is shining when all forecasts called for clouds, and work is going smoothly thus far.  I just ate a delicious lunch and am heading home for more leisurely laundry/tv watching when I get home.

I hope your week is treating you well.  Enjoy the sunshine, folks!

Technical Difficulties.

Technical Difficulties.

My bad, folks.  If anyone tried to visit my blog this weekend, you were very likely greeted with either a white screen, or the WordPress default (aka ugly) theme.  I had been attempting to change themes on Friday when everything up and broke on me.  It is all back up and working now, and hopefully I’ll be able to take another stab at theme changing soon! Who knows, maybe I’ll try my hand at building my own.  I have such a hard time finding anything that I really like.

Anyway, just wanted to post an update to let you know that I have not disappeared.  :-)

This weekend was full of photo shoots!  I was able to do a shoot in Bowness park with some friends of mine and their kids.  It was a beautiful day and I dare say I think I got some sun on my shoulders!  Yesterday was our very first Babecore 2011 calendar shoot and all went super smoothly!  I think we may finally have this down to a pseudo science at the very least.  ;-)  The ladies looked radiant as always and I’m sure the final product this year will be amazing!

Thursday Lame-dom.

Thursday Lame-dom.

What I’ve accomplished today:

  • Have acquired new passport photo. Lookin’ sketchy!
  • Finally downloaded a load of photos off my camera. Sadly, I didn’t get all of them because the sheer volume of them drained my battery while copying.
  • Ate a semi-delicious Lean Cuisine Ravioli lunch.
  • Found copy of Season 1 of Burn Notice. The last copy at Future Shop, as Wally World was allllllll sold out.

What I’m currently working on:

  • Learning how to integrate LDAP into my software so we can use Active Directory authentication. Woooo!!

What’s happening later:

  • Grocery Shopping. Jeelouse?
  • Laundry.
  • Chilling out.  Heck yes, I am.  While possibly catching the new Burn Notice tonight.

Prince of Persia: Awesome?

Prince of Persia: Awesome?

I would tend to think so.

Maybe it’s my love of all things Jake Gyllenhaal, or maybe it’s my appreciation for the beauty of the film itself, but I thought this movie was really enjoyable.  According to Rotten Tomatoes, it was a pretty big flop, but I disagree.

Some assumptions most movie goers SHOULD have made before going into this film:

  1. Yes, it is a franchise starter.  Much like the game, it is probably going to be destined for many sequels (if it makes enough money).
  2. Video game plots are generally not overly complex.
  3. It is Disney, so don’t expect much raunchiness or gore.

With those in mind, let’s have a look-see at some of the viewer comments, shall we?

“It plays too much like a video game.”

Perhaps that is because it is based on… wait for it… a video game.  Part of its appeal to me was that it stayed very true to the feel of the game series.  If you want a movie that doesn’t feel that way go and watch something else. (more…)
