Happy August!

August is a great time of year. Why, you ask? Because it is the month in which yours truly came screaming into this life. Or possibly not screaming. Maybe just whimpering? Who knows? The only people who would know are not people I am in contact with. Yet. No matter, it still calls for celebrating nonetheless. It’s funny this mood I am in… today is the first day back after a long weekend. Usually, that just means that Tuesday behaves like a really crap Monday because things always seem to go pear shaped on a long weekend, causing the first day back from it to be hectic and stressful. Today was neither of those, however.

I woke up slowly and got to ease into my day listening to the glorious rain outside my window. Maybe that’s the reason for my happy today. I do love the rain. We’ve had two days of it already and it is a beautiful thing. Monday morning at 3am, myself, my man, and my roommate all woke up to crazy loud cracks of thunder and blinding lightning. It was nothing short of spectacular. I haven’t seen a storm like that in ages. Today is just a steady stream of rain and it is giving me a sense of serenity. Odd, that is, but lovely just the same.

Don’t know what else to write about, except to gush about how good I’m feeling today, and well, I know how boring that can get.

I think tonight after yoga, I might give the dishwasher another go. Still need more parts as I’m quickly realizing that some of my old plumbing under my sink isn’t exactly compatible with the new hoses and connectors I’ve got. I’ll get it sorted, though, and am looking forward to having a running dishwasher again.

Oh, and curry. My roommate has decided to make curry tonight. How awesome is that? I am afraid to say any more to jinx this perfect day.

Summer in Saskatchewan

This is what family reunions look like when you come from a farm in Saskatchewan. It may not have mountains or crystal blue sea water, but it has a beauty all on it’s own. Behold, my cousin consuming a cold (very likely alcoholic) beverage while wandering through one of our fields last weekend. It was a very hot day and the cold drinks flowed freely as aunts, uncles, cousins, small nieces and nephews all came out from all across western Canada.

My parents throw a sweet family weekend. Good times. :o)
